At 1:39 PM on Thursday, Air India Flight AI-171 received clearance for takeoff from Runway 23 of Ahmedabad Airport, bound for London. But within just five minutes of being airborne, the aircraft came crashing down onto a residential neighborhood in Meghaninagar, a densely populated part of the city. In a matter of seconds, a multi-storey building turned into a raging fireball, claiming over a hundred lives in a horrifying tragedy.

Eyewitnesses described the horror that unfolded—first a deafening roar, followed by a violent explosion that shook the entire area. Flames and thick smoke engulfed the crash site immediately, leaving no room for escape.
