Today, the jobless teachers are marching towards Nabanna. Under the banner of the “Forum of Qualified Teachers for Rights,” they are demanding reinstatement without retaking the recruitment exam.
The protest march is scheduled to begin from outside Howrah Station and proceed towards Nabanna. The jobless teachers are demanding respectful reinstatement of all qualified teachers to their original positions. They are urging the state government to take active steps to return jobs to those found qualified in the review process.
Additionally, they will demand the publication of the untainted certified list and OMR sheets, along with re-paneling to ensure fair reappointment.
The road to Nabanna has effectively turned into a fortress. The key question now is: what will Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee do for the eligible candidates in the SSC case?
While the administration has tightened security to prevent protesters from reaching Nabanna, thousands of jobless yet qualified candidates continue to demand justice and reinstatement. CM Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly stated that she stands with the deserving candidates and is committed to ensuring that innocent individuals are not punished for others’ wrongdoing.
Her government has already filed a review petition in the Supreme Court, seeking reconsideration of the verdict that cancelled the appointments of over 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff. She has assured financial support for Group C and D employees affected by the verdict and promised full transparency in upcoming recruitment, including OMR sheet disclosure and video-recorded interviews.
However, protesters demand immediate publication of the untampered certified list and OMR sheets, and re-paneling of candidates. The coming days will show whether the government can balance legal obligations, political pressure, and the future of thousands of deserving teachers.
