The stretch of the National Highway from Kona to Bagnan has turned into a danger zone due to the rampant movement of unregistered vehicles and overloaded trucks. These vehicles, operating without proper documents or registration, are flouting traffic rules daily, posing serious risks to commuters and pedestrians alike.
Accidents have become a regular occurrence on this route. Many of these vehicles are overloaded far beyond the permissible limit, carrying goods in an unbalanced and unsafe manner. As a result, smaller vehicles, two-wheelers, and even pedestrians often find themselves caught in dangerous situations.
To make matters worse, illegal barricades have been set up at several points along the highway. These unauthorized blockades are causing massive traffic congestion even on the national highway, a crucial route for daily commuters and long-distance transport.
Locals allege that despite repeated complaints, neither the state government nor the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has taken any effective action. There seems to be a lack of law enforcement and regular monitoring, which has emboldened these illegal operators to continue violating rules without fear.
